A PASSION FOR WOOD—A PASSION FOR PENS

“Each pen is unique and one of a kind”

Even as a child, I was entranced by the magical patterns of wood grains. I saw imaginary figures in the swirls of its natural colors.

As I worked with different types of wood, carving, polishing, buffing, I watched them transform in depth and color.

Never have I seen two pieces of wood which were exactly the same. Like snowflakes, each piece of wood is distinctive,

brought to life by manipulation of the grain. Each piece of wood, as it is worked, displays its character. Whether one chooses

to cut with the grain or across the grain, the wood takes on a life of its own. As a wood "ages" it offers more stability as I carve,

hone, polish. Some of my stock is nearly fifty years old, waiting to take on a new life as a pen--a pen which will shape itself to

the user's hand, a pen unlike any other which ever existed. It is this magic of working with wood, with its unpredictability, its surprises, its colors,

which inspires me to create my own line of hand carved pens for the collector of wood, the collector of pens.
